Angela Gonzales-Torres is a dedicated community advocate and public servant running for Congress in CA-34. A born-and-raised working-class Angeleno, brought up in Section 8 housing by a single mother after her father’s deportation, Angela understands her community’s most pressing issues because she’s lived through them. Angela serves as an Advocate for Equity & Justice Academic Counselor at Pasadena City College’s CORE program, supporting formerly incarcerated and system-impacted students in navigating higher education. She is also the Program Director for a permanent affordable housing project in Altadena assisting elderly tenants in recovery efforts following the recent fires. As President of the Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council, she led community-driven efforts around housing displacement and public safety, learning how to navigate local bureaucracies, move policy forward, and build coalitions that centered residents. She also serves on Metro’s Public Safety Advisory Committee, amplifying the voices of her community at a regional level.
